Memorial Day

 

This was originally published May 30, 2013. I thought it would be appropriate to re-post it.

At JAS, the theme is Memorial Day, and here is what I created:

The vintage clip art is courtesy of The Graphics Fairy. I highlighted parts of the image with a Sakura Jellyroll Stardust pen. I tore strips of red paper out of my stash and layered it onto the card base to mimic the flag's stripes. I had some dark blue star paper that I tore into a square, attached that, then mounted the vintage image onto the cardstock.

So, I'm coming up on a lot of birthdays, and making lots of cake (paper ones, I don't bake). I made the card with the Poppystamps Floral Cake Pop Up Easel dies (this can be found for sale on the internet-unfortunately, it's retired). I also used the sentiment frames from the Adriana Pop Up Easel set, and used Versafine Black ink to stamp the sentiments (MFT Itty Bitty Birthday and Stampendous Friendly Phrases). The paper and roses are all from my stash.

Here is my card-

Of all my easel dies, this is the one I go to the most. The Adriana Pop Up Easel Set is so versatile-I've used it for weddings, birthdays, retirement, sympathy, and now Mothers Day. I cut this out of a light cream Neenah 110 lb cardstock for the card base, along with the sentiments. The rose is the Sizzix Layered Rose by Lisa Jones.
