Snow much fun!

Hello! This month at Die Cut Diva's the theme was Embossing (Wet or Dry), and we want to thank our wonderful sponsor-

And here is my project-

There is a new (to me) technique on this card-blending ink on vellum. After I blended the ink I used an embossing folder to add the snowflakes. Here is the list of materials:
  1. Image: snow girl (retired, The Stamping Boutique), colored with Copics.
  2. Dies: scalloped ovals (Spellbinders), banner (Labels & Such, Cuttlebug).
  3. Embossing Folder: snowflakes (Darice).
  4. Stamp: sentiment (Snowmies, Pretty Cute Stamps).
  5. Inks: sentiment (Versafine Onyx Ink), wilted violet, salty ocean, chipped sapphire distress inks (Tim Holtz).
  6. Embellishments: white sequins.
  7. Paper: vellum, white cardstock (Co-ordinations).

Challenge #287-Pumpkins

Happy Monday and welcome to another Monday challenge!

Challenge #287-Pumpkins
Make a project about pumpkins!

And we are giving away a $25 Amazon gift certificate, courtesy of FCCB Design Team! This prize will be given if there are 10 entries or more.

To qualify for the prize, be sure to use at least 1 Cricut cut on your project and if it's not obvious, let us know what cartridge you used. If you use a Cricut Explore machine, at least one cut must be from the Cricut catalog of images.

Here is my project:

This was a fun project to make through Cricut Access! Pumpkins to me mean Halloween. Here are the steps and supplies I used to make this Halloween shadowbox:
  1. Images: Cricut Access scene, cut at 11 1/2". Spider Border (Ribbons & Rosettes), Happy Halloween (Happy Hauntings). I used the border and sentiment to fill in the gaps I made when I cut apart the frame and lined it with orange cardstock.
  2. Shadowbox: painted black and bought at Michaels.
  3. Paper: shimmer papers (Wausau, DCWV, Recollections), black & bright orange cardstock (Recollections), yellow and orange cardstock (DCWV).
  4. Pop dots.
I'm trying to find some lights that can fit at the bottom of the shadow box (I pre-drilled a hole!). I think it would look really cool all lit up.

Thanks for visiting!

Thank You Frantic Stamper!

We say goodby to our fabulous sponsor -

And someone will win this great die, a $25.99 value!

Here is my project-

Boy, taking pictures of cards can be a frustration thing, especially with colors that are great in person. The purple shimmer on this card is NOT this brownie purple! It really is closer to the purple on the hummingbird and the edges. Fooey. Anyway, here are the materials I used-
  1. Paper: purple shimmer (DCWV), purple, red, blue, orange, yellow colored watercolor paper (Brusho's on Strathmore 140#).
  2. Dies: Hummingbird stained glass (Frantic Stamper) sentiment (Spellbinders).
  3. Ink: Versacolor Rose Red.
  4. Embossing Folder: roses (Anna Griffin, Cuttlebug) but this one would work well also.
Thanks for visiting!

Die Cut Diva's & Frantic Stampers

The challenge this month at Die Cut Diva's is to make a card using fall colors or about a fall holiday (great site here for September holidays!). Our fabulous sponsor this month is-

And you could win this great die, a $25.99 value!

Here is my project-

I chose to make a card for Emma M. Nutt Day, which celebrates the first woman telephone operator in America.

Emma Nutt became the first woman telephone operator on September 1, 1878. She loved the job, and worked at it for 33 years.

This special day celebrates the world of telephone operators. It was a very important job for many decades. Today, the position has been eliminated being replaced by automation in telephone systems.

A little side note about Emma: According to Emma, she was "very thankful that my first name was not Imma".

This card looks like it would have been right in vogue in 1878, with the damask paper and the red rose!

Except for the stamping, this card is made entirely of die cut elements. Here is a list of materials:
  1. Sentiment: from Big Cats set (Mark's Finest Papers).
  2. Paper: Black Currant Stack (DCWV), red cardstock (Recollections).
  3. Dies: Woven Ribbon background (Frantic Stamper), Rose Creations (Spellbinders), banners (My Favorite Things).

Thanks for visiting!

Aloha!

This month at Die Cut Diva's we would like you to share with us your summer vacation, via cards ( or the papercraft of your choice), or maybe make a card sharing your dream vacation! Just remember you must always use at least 1 die cut or embossing folder, and most of all have fun!

Sponsoring us this Month is...

Here is my project-

I made a shaker card with Hawaii Betty! Here are the steps & materials I used:
  1. I used a My Favorite Things Oval Die to cut into the background designer paper by Ella & Viv. I used my Copics to color in a beach & sky, and used Elmers foam lines for the shaker oval. I happened to have gold sequin stars in my stash, and figured they could be starfish or heavenly stars!
  2. I colored the Hawaii Betty with my Copics, and highlighted her hair with a gelly glitter pen.
  3. The sentiment was cut with my Cricut using the Life is a Beach cartridge, and scraps from my stash.
One of these days, I will go to Hawaii. It's a dream vacation for me.

Thanks for visiting!
I'm also entering this at the Cut it Up Summertime Memories Challenge.

Die Cut Diva's and Vacations!

I hope everyone is enjoying a lovely summer and either having a wonderful vacation, or enjoying the summer festivities of your own home town.

I used Nevada Betty (colored with Copics) from Simply B for my scrapbook. We are in Reno for Hot August Nights with our 1966 Chevelle 4 door Hardtop, so I got the pages ready for pictures. Here is the entire layout-

I used my Cricut and the Nifty Fifties cartridge to cut out the Cruisin' and Route 66 images (don't you just love noticing something is uneven AFTER you've photographed it? *sigh*) out of scrap cardstock. The font was downloaded from the internet and is called Fontdiner Swanky. The nice thing about Cricut Design Space is that you can cut any font you have on your computer! I used Colorbox gold mirror cardstock for the lettering.
