Altenew Fantasy Florals

 April Sponsor: Altenew

Altenew will present a $30 gift card to the winner of this months challenge at Die Cut Divas.

The Challenge is to make an Anniversary or Birthday Card.

Remember to use a die-cut or dry embossed item in your submission.

Here is my project-

I like this challenge, as I always need birthday cards! I bought this die set just recently, even though its an older set from Altenew (Fantasy Floral Die). I chose blue roses because I like unusual and/or different color combinations. The leaves are out of a brushed silver cardstock that was very difficult to work with, so I won't do THAT again. The lattice die is also from Altenew (Moroccan Lattice Cover Die), layered over a very pale blue cardstock. The vertical sentiment is from Crealies Texto Negativo Happy Birthday die set.

Make sure to enter the challenge for a chance at that great prize!

And our challenge theme this month is: Spring is Coming
Make something that will tell us that Spring is coming, and make sure it was either Dry Embossed or cut with your Die-cut machine.

Here is my project-

Simple card to make once I figured out the background paper (It came out of an old 6 x 6 tablet called GCD Studios Special Delivery)! The scalloped die is an old nesting die from Quikutz (Nested Scalloped Squares), and the cacti and sentiments are from Gina K. Designs (Stuck on You). I colored the cactus and pots with Copic markers in what I hope are desert colors.

I chose the Gina K Sweet Spring Stamp & Die set for this card (available at several retailers I found doing a search). Perfect for a lot of my friends & family who are avid gardeners. The sentiment is from the Spellbinders Betterpress & die set called Natures Botanicals Garden Sentiments. The images were die cut with Lil Inkers Anytime Tags. I colored the images with Copics, and used small colored brads from my stash to attach to the cardstock. And OMG is that background cardstock old-20 years or better!

Hero Arts has generously offered a $25 gift card.

You can make a card, an ATC, a Tag, a journal, whatever you can imagine, just make it primarily red and/or pink colors.

Here is my project-

Another die with a big impact-the Flower Garden Cover Plate Die! I colored the white die cut with my Copics, then used pink sequins for the flower centers-it's really pretty in real life. The sentiment is from Spellbinders Natures Botanical Garden Sentiments, a Betterpress plate

I've had this Hero Arts "Peonies" for a long time, and had never used it? Why? I just found it! And since it is retired, it can be found on some reseller platforms. But Hero Arts does have this peony set now-the Peonies Bunch Stamp & Cut-and they have the matching stencils! This card was super simple to assemble after I had colored the leaves and flowers. The background paper was out of a DCWV Alphabet pad with bright pink solid cardstock at the edges. I hadn't colored with my Copics for a while, but I would definitely pick a different dark pink if given a do-over. Oh well.

The prize is a $15 code to go shopping at Waffle Flower.

Here is my project-

I turned the Birthday Puppies stamp & dies (retired) set into a Christmas card! I paper pieced the balloons to be Christmas themed, and covered the birthday hats with colored Santa hats (the danger of not writing down materials as I use them-I have no clue where I got them!). The wall is a brick embossed panel I had laying around, and the sentiment is from Frantic Stampers Christmas Pets die set.

And a bonus card!

 I just adopted a rescue!

His name is Buddy, (a Yorkie mix (?) and 13 years old). Rescue organizations always need money, so I'm on a mission to create cards to sell at local adoption events. These cards will go to that purpose. It isn't much, but hopefully what I create will help. I plan to make birthday, pet sympathy, holiday, and new pet cards. Here is a list of materials I used-

Elf Cat

  1. Waffle Flower Dies: Be a Cat, Be Christmas Accessories dies.
  2. All paper is from my scrap stash.
  3. My Favorite Things frame (Perfect Frame-Vertical).

Santa Cat

  1.  Waffle Flower Dies: Be a Cat, Be Christmas Accessories dies.

Magic Iris Snow Globe

November: Sponsor: Lawn Fawn, $25 gift card to their store.

We know we had critters earlier this year, but everyone loves critters, so it's all about critters again. Lawn Fawn has so many cute critters, we couldn't resist!

Here is my project-

I really like the critter stamps & interactive dies from Lawn Fawn! I've used the two sets pictured here a lot. That snow globe is made out of an "oops" -foiling-gone-wrong panel. I just ink blended some Distress Oxides over it, and voila! A pretty snow globe. Here is the material list-

  1. Lawn Fawn Dies: Magic Iris, Magic Iris Snow Globe
  2. Lawn Fawn Stamps: Furry & Bright
  3. Distress Oxide Inks: Blueprint Sketch, Wilted Violet.
  4. Paper: stash (unknown).

Fortune Teller Tabby

November: Sponsor: Lawn Fawn, $25 gift card to their store.

We know we had critters earlier this year, but everyone loves critters, so it's all about critters again. Lawn Fawn has so many cute critters, we couldn't resist!

Here is my project-

I really use my Lawn Fawn Reveal Wheel a lot. It's simple to make, and the different cards you can design is endless!

  1. Lawn Fawn Dies & Stamps: Fortune Teller Tabby stamp & die, Reveal Wheel, Reveal Wheel Circle Add on, Keep on Swimming Stamp & die set (large cat), Say What? Pets.
  2. Copic markers.
  3. Dies: wood floor (Penny Black).
  4. Inked panels with Distress Oxide.

A while back, I inked about 24 backgrounds, and I've used up all but 1 or 2 now. The bottom panel is Twisted Citron, Peacock Feathers and Blueprint Sketch. The panel I used for the reveal wheel has the Blueprint Sketch and Mowed Lawn (It had Squeezed Lemonade on the bottom, but the wood floor covered it up.) I really like those panels on this card!

Sometimes, I will cut multiple card bases with my edger dies. I grabbed this one out of my stash and created this card. I carefully colored the loop edge with a Copic. I also wanted the diamond die cut at an angle for something a little different.

Here is a materials list-
  1. Dies: Diamond die (Brass & Bliss, retired),  Lovely Loop Edger Die (Frantic Stamper).
  2. Stamp, Stencil, Die set: Friends Forever (Brass & Bliss-retired, but you can check out the gorgeous florals here.)

Sparkly Thanks

You're Going To Love This Challenge!

Yes!  Anything Goes.

If you've never visited Birch Press Design, you should. I have found some unique designs that you won't find elsewhere.

Our sponsor will be giving away a $20 gift card to the winner of our challenge.  *Note: Challenge winner must have US address.

 Here is my card-

I used three Birch Press items to make this card! The background is the Pinpoint Radial Plate (retired), the Dazzler Layer set (retired), and the Thanks Sugar Script die. I went looking on the internet for the retired dies, and they can be found.

I was messing around with the layers of the Dazzler die, and liked this configuration. I also remembered why I don't like glitter cardstock (it sheds, and it's hard to glue anything to it!). The papers are from my stash, but the black glossy cardstock is from Tonic Studios.

Anything goes with Birch Press

You're Going To Love This Challenge!

Yes!  Anything Goes.

 Here is my card-

Really, a pretty simple card. I used Birch Press Herbarium (retired, but available at a multitude of stores) to cut the top three layers (Light green, gold, med.green card stock), and added a rusty red underneath. I used the same rusty red as the shadow for the gold mirror card stock sentiment, Birch Press Merry Christmas Sugar Script (But these would work as well!). Trying to photograph this card was difficult due to the different golds, darn it. But, I think it turned out really well.

Here is my project-

I have wanted to play with my interference inks by Lisa Horton to make a galaxy background for a long time. When I found the Altenew Mini Moon (and this one would work even better!) in my stash, it all came together in my head! After I made the card, I found a poem on the internet, printed it, and added it to the two empty sections. I love those inks!
