Peruvian Lillies

 April Sponsor: Altenew

Altenew will present a $30 gift card to the winner of this months challenge at Die Cut Divas.

The Challenge is to make an Anniversary or Birthday Card.
Remember to use a die-cut or dry embossed item in your submission.

Here is my project-

Pretty much everything but the ink and paper are from Altenew. I just love the Peruvian Lily dies. You can make them out of any color, any size card. I think an A6 or A7 size would have been better for two flowers, but I really wanted to use the Essential Textures: Gilded Marble Press Plate (with Lisa Horton's Cloud Nine Copper ink) so I made it an A2. I also embossed that background with the Zellige Tile 3D Embossing Folder as an experiment. I like it, but some people may not. Finally I finished with a sentiment from Rosa Gallica stamp & dies.

Make sure you enter your birthday or anniversary cards for a chance at that great prize!

Altenew Fantasy Florals

 April Sponsor: Altenew

Altenew will present a $30 gift card to the winner of this months challenge at Die Cut Divas.

The Challenge is to make an Anniversary or Birthday Card.

Remember to use a die-cut or dry embossed item in your submission.

Here is my project-

I like this challenge, as I always need birthday cards! I bought this die set just recently, even though its an older set from Altenew (Fantasy Floral Die). I chose blue roses because I like unusual and/or different color combinations. The leaves are out of a brushed silver cardstock that was very difficult to work with, so I won't do THAT again. The lattice die is also from Altenew (Moroccan Lattice Cover Die), layered over a very pale blue cardstock. The vertical sentiment is from Crealies Texto Negativo Happy Birthday die set.

Make sure to enter the challenge for a chance at that great prize!

I have wanted to play with my interference inks by Lisa Horton to make a galaxy background for a long time. When I found the Altenew Mini Moon (and this one would work even better!) in my stash, it all came together in my head! After I made the card, I found a poem on the internet, printed it, and added it to the two empty sections. I love those inks!

Here is my project-

I loved working with this die set-nice large flowers, excellent directions for assembly! I used scraps for every bit of the flowers. Some of the paper was lightly patterned, which added some interest. What is really nice is I could have made this with any sentiment, such as wedding, sympathy, birthday, etc. Here is a list of materials I used-
  1. Dies: flowers (Peruvian Lily by Altenew).
  2. Betterpress: sentiment (Always & Forever by Spellbinders).
  3. Other: all paper is scraps from my stash.

Sometimes I get a last minute request from my husband for a card. Sympathy cards are the hardest ones for me to make, but the Altenew embossing folder and rose dies made this an easy one to create. I had a scrap of a watercolor background, and I thought it would make a nice rose. Add a sentiment and leaves, and voila! A card that shows how much he cares.

Here is the material list for this card-
  1. Dies: rose (Layered Rose Die Set, Altenew), leaves (Garden Picks 3D, Altenew).
  2. Embossing Folder: Angled Mosaics (Altenew).
  3. Other: Brusho colored watercolored paper. Scrap paper for leaves and rose outlines. Sentiment (Easy Expressions by The Ton.)

Established in April 2014, Altenew has quickly become a leader in the inspiration industry and continues to innovate and influence the world of paper crafts. Altenew strives to encourage crafters to express their own unique creativity through the art of paper crafting.

The Challenge for this month is: Water Coloring

The Prize from Altenew

Here is my project-

Ugh! I have such a hard time positioning baubles! But I will keep trying, because it really adds a beautiful element. I finally got a decent watercolor background using the Altenew 24 pan watercolor set (I struggle with baubles and watercoloring, LOL). The beautiful Altenew Gilded Rose with the coordinating stencils is just stunning, and the sentiment is from Altenews In My Thoughts stamp set. The gold baubles are from Trinity Stamps called Gold Satin. I used the Hero Arts Infinity Rectangles to cut the watercolor background.

One in a Melon

Established in April 2014, Altenew has quickly become a leader in the inspiration industry and continues to innovate and influence the world of paper crafts. Altenew strives to encourage crafters to express their own unique creativity through the art of paper crafting.

The Challenge for this month is: Water Coloring

The Prize from Altenew

Here is my project-

I'm really happy over the background, which I made using the 24 pan watercolor set from Altenew! I struggle with watercolors, but I was really thrilled that the watermelons from Simple Fruit Set by Altenew looked so good on it. Thank you Cindy Chiu for that set! I used Pink Flamingo Distress Oxide ink for the melon, took a Q-Tip dipped in water and erased the rind, then stamped. I added the rind using a Ranger emboss pen and green embossing powder (Hampton Art), and cut them out with the matching die set. The sentiment was also part of the set.

Now enter the challenge for that same set of watercolors I used-they are a $49.99 value!

 Here is my project-

One day I was playing with my Brusho's, mainly doing backgrounds. I made some red ones because I had never made any of them (I usually stick to blues and greens). I really like how the Brusho powders are to use-just a little bit of powder makes gorgeous color! Then the Altenew Watercolor came up at Die Cut Divas, and i decided to make some roses out of them. Here is the material list for this card-

  1. Dies: Moroccan Lattice Die, Layered Rose Die (Altenew), rose leaves (Elizabeth Craft Designs), sentiment (Sunny Studio-Sunny Snippets).
  2. Paper: maroon, green cardstock, light pink patterned paper.
  3. Watercolor: Brusho (scarlet, yellow).

Watercolored background

Spending time with Altenew is always a pleasure!

Die Cut Divas theme for the month of August is "watercolor real or faux".

"Watercolor real or faux" includes splattering of water on distress inked panels, application of a water spritzed stencil to pull up distress inks from a distress inked panel and smooshed backgrounds, so there's lots of techniques you can go with for watercolor real or faux. We'll leave it up to you.

Here is my project-

I like making watercolor backgrounds-water coloring images, not so much. So, here is a background I did with Brushos, and overlaid the Altenew die over it! Easy peasy!

Here is the materials list for this card-

Dies: Spring Shower Cover Die (Altenew), Fancy Tags Two (Spellbinders).
Stamps: sentiment (Dotted Diamonds-Altenew), Versafine Onyx ink.
Paper: background water colored with Brushos, Neenah Solar White cs.

Here is my Project-

I wanted to have some cards on hand that could be used for a sympathy card, or supporting a friend going through a rough time. This turned out better than I could have hoped, as stamping on vellum can be tricky. But this vellum didn't bleed the ink like others I've tried! Here is my material list-
  1. Die Cuts: clouds (Impression Obsession).
  2. Paper: white cardstock (Georgia Pacific), vellum (Coordinations-Joanns).
  3. Stamp: In My Thoughts (Altenew).
  4. Inks: background (Lucky Clover DO, Salty Ocean DO, Tumbled Glass DO), front (Gathered Twig DO, Spun Sugar DO, Memento black ink).

A is for April, and Altenew!

Our wonderful sponsor for April is Altenew. The prize for April is a $30 gift certificate and the theme is "Anything Goes".

April 1st is April Fool's Day. April Fools' Day (sometimes called All Fools' Day) is celebrated every year on April 1 by playing practical jokes and spreading hoaxes. The jokes and their victims are called April fools. People playing April Fool jokes expose their prank by shouting April Fool. Some newspapers, magazines, and other published media report fake stories, which are usually explained the next day or below the news section in small letters. Although popular since the 19th century, the day is not a public holiday in any country.
